Description

Stitching Stories: Costume Sewing Basics
Ages 13-18

Have you ever wondered who fixes a torn costume minutes before curtain or creates the pieces that help bring a character to life? In this hands-on class, students will learn the fundamentals of costume sewing while working on real costume pieces for CYT's production of Annie.

Students will learn essential skills such as threading a needle, hand sewing, mending rips and tears, attaching buttons, hemming garments, and making basic costume alterations. As their confidence grows, they'll help create actual costume elements that may appear onstage in the production.

Perfect for beginners, this class introduces the artistry and craftsmanship that happens behind the scenes while teaching practical skills that can be used for years to come. Best of all, each student will leave with their own personal sewing kit and the knowledge to continue creating at home.

No prior sewing experience required—just a willingness to learn, create, and help bring a story to life one stitch at a time!
