Description

Teen Sketch Comedy
Ages 13–18

Ready to turn awkward moments, wild characters, and ridiculous ideas into comedy gold?

In this fast-paced comedy class, students will create original sketches, outrageous characters, fake commercials, and overdramatic scenes — all in pursuit of the coveted audience reaction: the snort laugh.

Inspired by shows like Saturday Night Live, students will explore what makes audiences laugh while learning how to fully commit to bold comedic choices.
Through improv games, writing exercises, and performance training, students will discover how comedy actually works — from timing and commitment to creating memorable characters and finding the funny in everyday life.

Over the course of the session, the class will collaborate to create and film original short-form comedy content inspired by sketch shows like SNL — but clean, creative, and CYT-friendly.

Students will explore:
  • Improv and quick-thinking skills
  • Character creation and physical comedy
  • Sketch writing and comedic storytelling
  • Comedic timing and delivery
  • Ensemble collaboration and “yes, and…” teamwork
  • Heightening stakes and comedic situations
  • Confidence on stage and on camera

From overdramatic teachers to chaotic friend groups to absurd everyday situations, students will create comedy that celebrates creativity, spontaneity, and fearless performance.

No comedy experience needed — just a willingness to commit to the bit.

Warning: Side effects may include uncontrollable laughter, bizarre character voices, and suddenly turning every normal conversation into sketch material.
