Shakespeare in the Park: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Ages 12–18
Step into the world of fairies, mischief, magic, and classical storytelling as CYT Phoenix presents
A Midsummer Night’s Dream this November!
This performance-based class is a unique opportunity for students to work on a legitimate Shakespeare script while training in one of the most foundational forms of acting. Students will rehearse and produce the show
within the class itself, culminating in a live outdoor-style Shakespeare performance experience.
Actors will explore:
- Classical text work
- Shakespearean language and vocabulary
- Physical storytelling and movement
- Character objectives and tactics
- Vocal clarity and projection
- How to make heightened text feel truthful and alive
Some of the greatest performers in history began their training with Shakespeare. Why? Because if you can act Shakespeare, you can act anything.
This class is a performance
commitment spanning both the Fall and Winter terms, as students will continue developing and rehearsing the production across semesters. (When winter session opens, you'll automatically be added to this class from the back end and we will add the class fee for that session at that time)
Whether you are brand new to Shakespeare or already love classical theater, this class is designed to challenge, stretch, and inspire actors who are ready to grow in craft and confidence.
