Description

Musical Theater: Beauty and the Beast
Ages 8–14
Be our guest as we step into the enchanted world of Beauty and the Beast through singing, dancing, and acting!
In this magical musical theater class, students will explore storytelling, character work, choreography, and vocal performance inspired by one of Broadway’s most beloved tales. From enchanted objects to daring adventures, students will learn how to bring larger-than-life characters to the stage with creativity, confidence, and heart.
Students will work on:
  • Musical theater vocals
  • Character development and acting choices
  • Choreography and movement storytelling
  • Ensemble performance and stage presence
  • Projection, diction, and confidence on stage
  • Emotional storytelling through song and scene
This class encourages young performers to grow not only in skill, but in imagination, courage, kindness, and connection—discovering that great storytelling comes from bringing truth and heart to every performance.
Whether you dream of singing in a castle, dancing through an enchanted village, or becoming part of a magical ensemble, this class will help students grow as triple-threat performers while having a tale-as-old-as-time amount of fun!

Teacher:

Jami Kratz

Jami Kratz is so excited to be teaching at CYT, although her picture might not show it :) She is an energetic, ambitious, bubbly senior at GCU who will graduate with a BA in Theatre Education. She grew up doing theatre within the valley and enjoys all aspects in theatre including being an actor, improviser, scenic designer, electrician, carpenter, and director. She loves teaching her passion to students and getting to bring up the next generation of theatrical artists! As an actor, some of her favorite credits include: Harriet in Emma (Arizona Christian Theatre), Snoopy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (MoezArt Productions), and Miss Lark/Chimney Sweep in Marry Poppins (Ethington Theatre). As a scenic designer, she most recently designed for CYT’s production of Shrek the Musical, and last spring her design of Ethington Theatre’s Ada and the Engine took her to nationals for the KCACTF. She can’t wait to see what God has in store for this season!
