Making Music Dance
Ages 8–12
Did you know dancers can become musicians with their feet?
In this imaginative and rhythm-filled class, students will explore the exciting connection between tap dance and music theory as they discover how movement creates sound, rhythm, and storytelling. Because tap is the percussion of dance, students will learn how dancers “make music” through timing, patterns, and creativity!
This class will introduce young performers to:
- Foundational tap technique and terminology
- Rhythm, tempo, and musical counting
- Basic music theory concepts
- How movement creates percussion and sound
- Musicality and listening skills
- Creative choreography and rhythmic improvisation
Students will learn how to visualize music through movement while discovering how dancers and musicians work together to create energy, storytelling, and performance magic. Through games, exercises, and choreography, students will build coordination, confidence, and a deeper understanding of both dance and music.
Come make noise, make rhythm, and make music dance!
