Description

10-Minute Plays
Ages 8–12
Big stories can happen in just ten minutes!
In this fast-paced acting class, students will explore the exciting world of short-form theater by rehearsing and performing a collection of 10-minute plays. These bite-sized scripts are packed with comedy, heart, conflict, and creativity, giving every student the opportunity to work on strong character choices, storytelling, and ensemble connection.
Students will develop:
  • Acting and character-building skills
  • Vocal projection and stage presence
  • Script analysis and memorization
  • Ensemble teamwork and listening
  • Comedy, timing, and emotional truth
  • Confidence performing in front of an audience
Because the scenes are shorter, students will have the opportunity to explore multiple characters and styles throughout the term while learning how to jump quickly into a story and make bold acting choices.
Whether funny, heartfelt, dramatic, or imaginative, these tiny plays will help young actors grow in creativity, confidence, and craft—one scene at a time!

Teacher:

Jami Kratz

Jami Kratz is so excited to be teaching at CYT, although her picture might not show it :) She is an energetic, ambitious, bubbly senior at GCU who will graduate with a BA in Theatre Education. She grew up doing theatre within the valley and enjoys all aspects in theatre including being an actor, improviser, scenic designer, electrician, carpenter, and director. She loves teaching her passion to students and getting to bring up the next generation of theatrical artists! As an actor, some of her favorite credits include: Harriet in Emma (Arizona Christian Theatre), Snoopy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (MoezArt Productions), and Miss Lark/Chimney Sweep in Marry Poppins (Ethington Theatre). As a scenic designer, she most recently designed for CYT’s production of Shrek the Musical, and last spring her design of Ethington Theatre’s Ada and the Engine took her to nationals for the KCACTF. She can’t wait to see what God has in store for this season!
