**Elephant & Piggie’s We Are in a Play! ** is a full-day CYT musical theater summer camp for ages 7–12. This playful camp introduces young performers to the foundations of acting, singing, and movement through a high-energy, character-driven musical.
Campers will spend the week bringing the beloved characters Gerald the Elephant and Piggie to life through bold expressions, physical comedy, and joyful music. Using humor and heart, students will explore storytelling, timing, and teamwork while building confidence onstage. The week wraps up with a fun-filled showcase where campers perform the full stage adaptation for family and friends.

All About Elephant & Piggie’s We Are in a Play!

Based on the award-winning book series by Mo Willems, this musical celebrates friendship, creativity, and imagination. When Piggie decides she wants to put on a play, Gerald is hesitant—but with encouragement, trust, and a lot of silliness, the two friends discover that working together can be the greatest performance of all. Packed with catchy songs, humor, and heart, this show is perfect for young performers.

Gretchen is a CYT Phoenix alumnus, having been involved in 24 Mainstage Productions over her ten years as a student in the program. She is a graduate of Grand Canyon University where she earned a BA in Theatre Education. She now teaches high school drama and middle school english at a classical charter school in the valley. She is grateful for CYT and blessed to be a part of the organization as a teaching artist.

Hello! My name is Macy Spangler and I am a graduate of Arizona Christian University with a double major in Music and Psychology. I love choral music and all types of vocal ensembles. I am currently music directing around the valley and singing with an a capella group called Diapente (@_diapente)!

Almost nine years ago, I auditioned for my first show ever at CYT, and I discovered my love and passion for theater and specifically dance. Now, I am currently working towards an AFA in dance and, after that, a BFA in dance. I believe dance is such an incredible gift from God. It deserves to be studied, practiced, performed, and used for God's glory, and I plan to do just that and help others to do so as well. I have trained and am currently still training in modern, ballet, hip hop, jazz/musical theater jazz, contemporary, and tap. I am super excited and thankful to be back at CYT to teach the wonderful art that is dance!
