In this advanced level course, students will work towards putting on a straight play under the direction of a CYT Phoenix favorite, Kim Stephenson Smith! Students will work on their production from the ground up. They will begin by auditioning for roles, then work on rehearsing, designing production elements such as sets and costumes, as well as learning about technical elements of the show. Throughout the rehearsal process, students will continue to develop their acting techniques and abilities, while exploring the world of straight plays.
This is a 2 part class, and registration in the Spring session is a requirement for participating in the Winter session. Students must not miss more than 3 classes during the 2 sessions and may not have a conflict for dress rehearsal or performance dates (May 17th, 18th & 19th, 2019).
One student will be selected as stage manager for the production, and will work closely with Kim to serve in that capacity in lieu of performing in the Spring. Registration in the class is required to work as stage manager.
Prerequisite: Intermediate Acting and/or Approval
