Class Description

At this class held at Northwest Christian School, taught by Mrs. Melissa McGuire, students will receive fundamentals in vocal production and dance basics for musical theatre.

Within this two hour course, students will spend one hour developing their vocal technique as they apply their singing to various musical theatre selections. Students will have the opportunity to work in small and large groups, as well as independently. The second hour, students will work on basic movement and dance patterns.

Students will have the opportunity to showcase their work at the end of the 10 weeks. In this showcase, students will perform at least one ensemble song with choreography.  The goal is to hold this showcase in person.  Due to Covid-19, final plans will be shared as the session is coming to completion.

Melissa McGuire

Melissa is the High School Choir Director and Fine Arts Coordinator at Northwest Christian School. She is in her 14th year of teaching music and choir in schools in AZ and CA. Melissa was the Music Director for NCS's productions of Cinderella and The Sound of Music, as well as for Central HS's productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Once Upon a Mattress, and Bye Bye Birdie. When she's not teaching, she loves to spend time with her family - she has 3 wonderful kids and has been married to her high school sweetheart for almost 21 years!
