Class Description

Acting without a script? That’s Improv! This class teaches improvisational skills as well as improving students’ abilities to think on their feet! Students will learn how to create a scene, character, and conflict in a matter of seconds as they master the rules of improvisational acting. Upon completion of this course, students will have experience in the following areas:
  • The basic tenets of Improv
  • Thinking creatively and quickly as a team
  • Effectively initiating and navigating the necessary steps involved in creating an Improv scene
After completing this class students will be ready to audition for CYT Phoenix's Improv Team that will compete at CYT's national EXPO in San Diego in the summer. Each student who auditions for the team and gets selected is required to attend EXPO. (

Taking this class in the fall is not required in order to be eligible to audition for the 2020 team. Auditions for the 2020 Improv Team will be before the winter class session begins.
