- Ages 14-18 (In high school or home-school equivalent)
- Displays teaching, serving and/or leadership skills
- Has successfully completed at least one full CYT session
- Demonstrates a good rapport with all youth and adults in CYT
- Commits to serving one full year in HYPE
- Submits a thoughtfully prepared HYPE application by the application deadline
Decathlon Award

The CYT National Decathlon Award recognizes exceptional CYT students who have demonstrated a love for theater by pursuing a well-rounded education in the theater arts and who have exhibited a character that is consistent with CYT values.
The Decathlon Award will be awarded to students, aged 16-18, who have met the following requirements, within the past five seasons (years):
Completion of 2 Voice Classes*
Completion of 2 Dance Classes (must be different styles)*
Completion of 2 Acting Classes*
Completion of 2 Advanced/Specialty Classes (Improv, makeup, technical etc.)*
Completion of 2 other classes, any focus*
Participation in good standing for 2 years membership in HYPE or documented 40 hours of community service
through church, school or civic organization
Participation in a minimum of 10 Productions, at least one as a cast member
Participation in a minimum of 1 Production as a crew member
Participation in a volunteer position during 1 CYT Session (such as hair/makeup, costumes, refreshments, souvenirs, usher etc.)
Completion of a written essay on the topic of CYT values and character. This year's essay topic - "How You
Define Character" in 500 words.
**A completed class means fulfilling the entire 10 weeks session. Repeating the same class does not count as two classes.
***ALL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET by the date your application is submitted. You cannot count anything that has NOT been completed.
Your application should first be submitted to CYT Phoenix staff and then sent to CYT National.

Have you ever watched a skit from “Whose Line is it Anyway” and laughed your head off? Don’t miss this opportunity to see CYT kids at their funniest. Teams from all over the country will merge in Denver for workshops, joining in some hilarious games and skits. The 4 day event culminates with a competition where the National Award is presented to the winning team to keep for one year. CYT Phoenix offers classes in Improvisation and develops a team to compete in the National CYT Improvathon each summer.
